Hardware & Software

ESRI's ArcMap and ArcCatalog are available at all OAL computers.  Two stations are located in Map and GIS Collections and Services.

One wireless-enabled Dell Inspirion Laptop is available for patron checkout for use within Map and GIS Collections and Services, 2nd floor, Sterling C. Evans Library.  The laptop contains ESRI software, ArcGIS 9.3, Google Earth Pro, and is intended to support GIS computing needs.  The laptop may be borrowed by TAMU faculty, students, and staff for four-hour periods and must be returned 15 minutes before closing, even if the four-hour checkout period has not expired.  The laptop is property of Map and GIS Collections and Services and was purchased in part with support from the Dan and Barbara Clinton ’52 Challenge Grant Endowment for Maps.

Map and GIS Collections and Services now offers Google Earth Pro for use in the room.  The Pro version allows for many more enhanced features than the free version of Google Earth, such as GIS and GPS data importing, additional measurement tools, higher resolution images and movie capabilities.  Learn more about Google Earth Pro
