GIS Services

Our primary goal is to help you locate and download GIS data for use in your class or research project.  We have an extensive collection of GIS shapefiles which we distribute for research purposes.  Additionally, we conduct brief tutorials and have resources, both print and online, to help you learn more about GIS.  We provide assistance to all colleges and agencies associated with TAMU, as well as members of the local community.  Contact us on the 2nd floor of Sterling C. Evans Library at 979-845-1024 or maps-gis@library.tamu.edu.

Local GIS data is available from both the City of College Station and City of Bryan.   Online tutorials can be found at ESRI's GIS.com and  NCGIA (National Center for Geographic Information & Analysis).  ArcExplorer, the National Atlas, and National Geographic’s Map Machine are free interactive mapping web sites.  Sites where you may download geospatial data are the GIS Data Depot and ESRI’s Geography Network.  Links to more data can be found on the Data and Online Maps tab.
