Census data is used to perform GIS analysis in many fields of study. Participants can take advantage of free data and databases available through the University Libraries membership. Sessions will explore numerous census data resources via the web and library webpage. Participants will gain an understanding of census geographies and their standardized codes known as FIPS ( Federal Information Processing Series). Participants will get hands-on practice downloading boundaries and tabular data, as well as joining those tables to the boundary shapefiles.
Miriam Olivares, GIS Specialist, and Laura Sare, Government Information Librarian, at the Texas A&M University Libraries, will conduct the training sessions.
Interested individuals can register now online.
