Find out from experts about patent searches at Patent & Trademark Day sponsored by the Texas A&M University Libraries Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Evans Library, Room 204E. The Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC) at West Campus Library (WCL) is coordinating the day-long event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dr. Michael Hydorn, medicinal chemist, marine biologist and former patent examiner along with Daphne Joseph, a librarian at the PTRC Program Office, will discuss intellectual property and demonstrate patent and trademark searching. Other specialists from the community will participate in a panel discussion to highlight resources available locally.
“We know there’s a diverse community eager to learn about patent searches, so they can locate items already patented or possibly file a patent for their invention,” Jared Hoppenfeld, business librarian at WCL, said. “As one of 82 PTRC libraries in the country and one of six in Texas, we’re reaching out to individuals who need assistance with their searches.”
The program is free and open to the public. Registration is required through WCL's website, which provides a schedule and speakers.
