General Description:

Reporting to the Dean of Libraries through the Director of Cushing Memorial Library and Archives, the Reading Room and Front Desk Coordinator ensures the delivery of excellent customer service to all visitors and patrons. This position may include occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.

General Duties:
  • Coordinates the Reading Room and lobby Front Desk operations;
  • Designs and supports service to patrons;
  • Provides professional, timely and courteous service to all patrons, including internal ones;
  • Gather Reading Room and Front Desk statistics and compile reports
  • Supervises two full-time Reading Room Staff members;
  • Supervises student employees;
  • Composes, updates and implements Reading Room and lobby Front Desk policies and procedures, consistent with legal codes, Texas A&M University’s rules and procedures, and archival/special collections standards and best practices;
  • Provides reference and research assistance in the Reading Room;
  • Coordinates and provides occasional backup at the lobby Front Desk;
  • Assists with Reading Room class visits and assignments;
  • Facilitates transfer of materials between the Reading Room and the digitization unit (DiSC);
  • Coordinates with the appropriate individuals to ensure that the Front Desk and Reading Room spaces are organized and welcoming;
  • Helps coordinate events that take place in the Cushing Library’s public spaces;
  • Assists with selected public tours and outreach events (such as open house events);
  • Supports and promotes the Libraries and Texas A&M shared vision and values;
  • Engages in professional Service activities at a level consistent with rank and progress toward promotion;
  • Other duties as assigned.
