Meet in rooms 204a and 204f on the second floor of the Evans' Library.
Purpose: To
familiarize the students with the Evans Library’s resources.
Complete the plagiarism tutorial and answer the quiz at the end of the tutorial. Send the results to Dr. Woods. Use the following link to access ‘Academic Integrity Tutorial’
How to find books and
journals using:
LibCat
– use to find books and journals in the TAMU Libraries and links to
electronic versions. Do not use LibCat to find articles.
- In the 'Simple Search' tab, type in your keywords in Box 1. Choose the type of search in Box 2. If you want to search for a journal, select the 'Journal title keyword' or 'Journal title starts with' searches.
- The 'Keyword Search' tab offers more search boxes for advanced searches.
How to find thesis and dissertations:
1. Libcat
– use for TAMU theses and dissertations.
Use the ‘Keyword/Builder Search’ tab. There are 3 search boxes.
Tip:
a) In the first box, type in your search term, for example, "construction
management" as a keyword. In the second
box, type either ‘thesis’ or ‘dissertation’ as a keyword.
or
b) In the first box, type in your search term, "construction
management" as a keyword. You can limit
your search to thesis and dissertations in a specific department by typing in
"major construction" as a subject.
2. ProQuest These & Dissertations – use this resource to identify theses and dissertations from around the world. Many of the documents are full-text.
