Histories of the Book
The resources listed below are merely starting points. The library can provide many more resources specific to a particular topic area. Most of the electronic resources listed below are library databases and e-journals accessible from the Libraries’ homepage at http://library.tamu.edu.
Library Catalogs
LibCat, the TAMU Libraries' online catalog includes the materials (books, journals, videos, documents and other materials) that the Libraries hold. If we do not own what you need, you can request specific materials (books, journal articles, book chapters, etc.) via Get it for me.
WorldCat Catalog of books and journals, the contents of over 14,000 research libraries, mainly in North America. Anything found on WorldCat that is not available in Evans Library can be ordered through Interlibrary Services or Get it for me.
RLIN Catalog of materials from Research Libraries Group, it includes archival materials and rare editions. It provides access to the RLIN Bibliographic File which reflects the collections of major research, academic, and national libraries; archives and museums; law, medical, and theological libraries; art and music libraries; area studies collections; public and corporate libraries; historical societies and book clubs. It also provides access to the English Short Title Catalogue, containing records from 1473 to 1800, for items of all types published in Great Britain and its dependencies or in English anywhere in the world from the beginnings of print through the 18th century. This system is mediated, so an appointment will need to be made with a librarian. http://endeavor.rlg.org.
British Library Catalogue lists over twelve million items in the British Library's outstanding collections.
Copac is a union catalogue. It provides access to the merged online catalogues of 24 major university research libraries in the UK and Ireland, plus the British Library, the National Library of Scotland, and the National Library of Wales/Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru.

UK Archives Hub The Archives Hub provides a single point of access to descriptions of archival collections that are available for research in universities and colleges. Anyone may use the Hub. The Hub includes descriptions for the archives of a wide range of individuals, families, and organizations, from medieval times right up to the present day. The Hub does not include the text or images of the archival collections described here - only their descriptions.
UK Access to Archives The A2A database contains catalogues describing archives held throughout England and dating from the 900s to the present day. A2A does not yet offer a full description of all the archives in England, but it is regularly updated, so revisit often for newly-included catalogues. The A2A database is regularly updated, and catalogues over 8.5 million filed items from 390 record offices and other repositories.

Early English Books Online (EEBO) From the first book published in English through the age of Spenser and Shakespeare, this incomparable collection contains over 125,000 titles listed in Pollard & Redgrave's Short-Title Catalogue (1475-1640) and Wing's Short-Title Catalogue (1641-1700) and their revised editions, as well as the Thomason Tracts (1640-1661) collection. Additionally, the Early English Books Tract Supplement provides an exceptional perspective on many aspects of 16th and 17th-century British life. This collection is partially full-text, with more materials being added regularly. Of the materials listed in EEBO which are not full-text, citations are made to a microfilm collection. Books in EEBO and the Early English Books microfilm collection are also listed on LibCat.
Early English Books Online (EEBO) Text Creation Project: The Text Creation Partnership is an international initiative to create structured SGML text files for the materials listed in the Short-Title Catalogue. The encoded text will offer unparalleled search access to the works whose page images are already available in Early English Books Online. Because current optical character recognition (OCR) technology cannot read early modern printing with adequate efficiency, each text must be re-keyed as it is encoded. The resulting text files will then be linked to the EEBO page images, allowing users to both perform keyword searches and see the features of the original.
Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO) This is a massive digitization project that when complete will allow electronic access to circa 150,000 English-language titles and editions published between 1701 and 1800 (predominately in Britain). Segments to be included are: History and Geography; Social Science; Fine Arts, Music, Art & Architecture; Medicine, Science, & Technology; Literature and Language; Religion and Philosophy; and Law.
