Library Receives Gift from Coach Sherman’s Kick-Off Camp

The Texas A&M University Libraries received a gift of $20,000 from Coach Mike Sherman’s Kick-Off Camp.   A group of 100 participants heard briefings from coaches, watched practice, and dined with the football team during the August 15 weekend.  The check will be presented to Colleen Cook, dean of the University Libraries at the Texas A&M vs Utah State pre-game ceremony on September 19.

“We are delighted that Coach Sherman is continuing the tradition of supporting the University Libraries with this very generous gift from the annual Kick-Off Camp,” commented Cook. The Aggie Band also shares in the proceeds along with football operations.

The University Libraries has received annual gifts from this popular pre-season event for 16 years. Proceeds including this year’s gift total $335,000. Funds have been used for resource materials, digitizing football films in the archives, and textbook scholarships for students.
