Course Reserves
Course Reserves provide access to course readings and materials for the educational programs at Texas A&M University. They are print or electronic materials selected by faculty for use in a specific course. Reserve materials can include books, book chapters, textbooks, journal articles, maps, old exams, professor's notes, and homework solutions necessary for course work. Listing of course readings and access to electronic reserve materials is available at http://library-reserves.tamu.edu
Print reserve collections are held in one of 4 locations
· Evans Library:2nd floor
· West Campus Library: 1st floor
· Medical Science Library: 1st floor
· Policy Sciences & Economics Library: 1st floor
Instructors are invited to request printed materials or electronic reserves for courses currently being taught. They are also encouraged to make use of individual accounts in the Course Reserves electronic reserves system, and are able to manage their own electronic reserves. Inquire at a Course Reserves desk. UPDATE: Course Reserves Adds New Features and Better Access
In summer 2008, the Texas A&M University Libraries migrated to a new electronic course reserve system offering additional features and easier access including:
- Single access point for print and electronic reserve items
- Tracking system to allow more effective processing of requests
- Real-time updating of item status so instructors can check their materials
- Verification of affiliation using the central authentication system
- Improved tracking of copyright compliance
- Additional features that allow future integration of other systems to facilitate the request process, better communication with students and incorporation of social networking
The new system will have the same look and feel as the new Libraries web site and offer features similar to the system that supports deliverEdocs. The old electronic reserves URL will redirect to the new URL: http://library-reserves.tamu.edu/
All students, faculty and staff seeking to access the reserve system must authenticate using their NetID. For those affiliates without a NetID (such as some faculty and students in the Health Science Center), an alternate method of access will be provided upon inquiry.
During the summer, library staff will fine-tune the system to enhance features and improve workflow.
