Texas A&M University Libraries

The Texas A&M University Library system includes the Sterling C. Evans Library, the Cushing Memorial Library and Archives, the West Campus Library, the Policy Sciences and Economics Library, and the Medical Sciences Library.

The general academic library is the Sterling C. Evans Library. The bulk of the library collections and services are located in or near the Evans facility. Among these collections and services are the following: access services, interlibrary loan services, consolidated reference services, current periodicals and course reserves, reading and study rooms, the map room,  the general collections, and the Administrative Offices.

Adjacent to it is the Library Annex, a six-floor library addition that houses United States and Texas State documents, Educational  Media Services, and numerous reading and study rooms, as well as collection management, systems, and other operations offices. 

The Cushing Memorial Library and Archives is located on the west side of the Evans building. Constructed in 1930, it was the first freestanding library facility on campus and is now home to special collections, rare books, and the University Archives.

The West Campus Library houses collections and services supporting teaching and research in business.

The Medical Sciences Library, also located on the West campus, supports teaching and research in human and veterinary medicine, agriculture and life sciences.  It is located adjacent to the Reynolds Medical Building.

The Policy Sciences and Economics Library is located at the Annenberg  Presidential Conference  Center and supports teaching and research in government and public service, presidential and leadership studies, as well as economics.

Current university library holdings include 3.9 million volumes, approximately 225,000 maps, over 23,000 linear feet of archival and manuscript collections, over 100,000 photographs, art collections, numerous artifacts, and material in virtually all forms of audiovisual media.

• The library contains approximately 46,000 serial titles including some 150 state, national and foreign newspapers.
• Through the OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc. national database, library users have access to more than 58 million bibliographic records in more than 53,548 libraries in more than 96 countries.
• The library collections are primarily organized according to the Library of Congress classification system.
• According to ARL statistics for 2006,  total library expenditures was $29.5 million.
