Late, Damaged or Lost Materials
Late Materials & Resources
Most books do not accrue daily overdue fines and can be renewed. Books that are 45 days late will be declared lost on your library record.
However other books and materials in high demand will create overdue fines on Your Library Record when turned in late.
- Recalled books: $1 per day; maximum $45
- Reserve & Reference materials: $.03 per minute for short loans (24 hours or less); $3 per day for multi-day loans; maximum $150
- Journals: $1.00 per day
- Periodicals: $.03 per minute; maximum $35
- Laptops: $.50 per minute; maximum $35
- Study Rooms: $.50 per minute; maximum $35
Some items have a short grace period. This means the item can be turned in slightly late without creating an overdue fine. If the item is turned in after the grace period the fine includes the grace period time.
Other specific limited use collections with their own service desk will have their own overdue fine rates, such as Reference or audio/video/media materials.
Damaged Books
Bring prior damage to the attention of the check out desk as soon as noticed to avoid being charged:
- Missing pages or inserts (such as disks)
- Broken spine
- Dried water stains
- Pen or highlighter marks
- Torn covers
