Libraries to Celebrate Open Access Week Oct. 22-26
Marketing and Communications | October 08, 2012
The Texas A&M University Libraries is gearing up for international Open Access Week, Oct. 22-26, with a slate of events, presentations and giveaways.
This year the OA Café, a portable information booth, will travel outside the Libraries to reach faculty, researchers, and students at locations across campus. Specialists from the Libraries’ Scholarly Communication team will be discussing how to “set your research free” with Open Access Publishing.
“As a special attraction, this year’s OA Café will feature a ‘Guess the Journal Price’ game with prizes and giveaways to all participants,” Gail Clement, head of Digital Services and Scholarly Communication, said. “We want to call attention to the high cost of journals and the value of Open Access to scholarly communication.”
Among the featured programs will be “Escaping the Problems of Print: Online Journals and Conferences with Texas Digital Library,” by Ryan Steans, senior program coordinator for the Texas Digital Library. The presentation will be 10-11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 26, Evans Library, Room 204E. All interested faculty, researchers, staff, and students are invited.
