General Description:

The Electronic Resources Librarian manages, maintains, and evaluates the Libraries' electronic resources access and management systems. The librarian sets up and maintains access records for existing, new, and trial electronic resources, including updates to the systems' knowledge bases. The librarian is responsible for resolving electronic resources access issues and communicating with patrons, vendors, publishers and library faculty and staff regarding such issues. The librarian collaborates with staff members responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the Libraries' link resolver. The librarian reviews, negotiates and processes contracts and licenses for electronic resources and is a member of the Electronic Resources Licensing Team.

General Duties:

  • Responsible for the management of the Libraries' electronic resources management system (CORAL) and link resolver (SFX)
  • Sets up access to trials and new electronic resources in CORAL
  • Provides support for the SFX Team; identifies and delegates appropriate assignments for Team members
  • Communicates with vendors and publishers regarding the ordering, invoicing, licensing, setup, and access of electronic resources
  • Maintains Database A-Z list in LibGuides
  • Responds to and resolves electronic resource questions and issues reported by end-users and library staff
  • In coordination with the Electronic Resources Licensing team, the Electronic Resources Unit and the Director of Electronic Resources, develops and manages workflows to assure timely processing and uninterrupted access to electronic resources.
  • Works with the Electronic Resources Licensing Team and the Director of Electronic Resources in the review and processing of licenses
  • Assists with planning for and implementation of a new library services platform
  • Stays current with issues and trends related to the management of electronic resources
  • Participates in library and university service activities, including membership on committees, task forces, etc., related to professional assignment or as appropriate
  • Engages in research, publication, and professional service as required of tenure track/tenured faculty (Participates in scholarly activities and professional service commensurate with TAMU Libraries and University requirements for promotion and tenure (if applicable).
