Texas A&M University is a Carnegie Doctoral/Research University-Extensive institution and is only one of twenty-four institutions to hold designations as a land, sea, and space grant institution. The Texas A&M Libraries consist of several College Station facilities facilities in Galveston and McAllen, and collections in several Texas locations.

Preservation - What We Do
The Preservation Department ensures the long-term access and sustainability of the Texas A&M University Libraries’ physical and digital collections for its diverse community of users. By preserving the integrity of the physical and digital artifacts, the Preservation Department plays an integral role in the Libraries’ mission of providing quality information, services, and resources.

Remote Storage
The Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) and the University of Texas System (UTS) collaborated to build the Joint Library Facility (JLF), a high density print repository facility on Texas A&M University (TAMU) – Rellis Campus in 2013. This facility allows all libraries in both university systems to store print items on its shelves and rests on the foundation of the Resource In Common (RIC) model.
Policies & Guidelines
The General Collections Strategies Policy provides a plan for developing the collections and maintaining their existing strengths for current and future students, faculty, and staff of Texas A&M University. Entities of the Texas A&M University System are also supported by the Libraries at any national branch and international location, enabling these users to fulfill the educational and research mission of the university.
