What We Do
Champion Scholarly Communication and Open Access
We collaborate with researchers across campus to promote open, sustainable models of sharing research. Through workshops, consultations, and campus engagement, we help scholars navigate evolving issues in scholarly communication and ensure their work is openly accessible and preserved for the future.
Lead and Support Research Partnerships
We work closely with researchers, departments, and administrators to build strong, lasting partnerships. We support the full research lifecycle — from creation to publication to long‑term preservation — ensuring that Texas A&M scholarship reaches the widest possible audience.
Advance Key Research Platforms
We manage and promote several core systems that support the visibility, accessibility, and preservation of Texas A&M research:
- OAKTrust — Texas A&M’s digital repository for journal articles, conference proceedings, technical reports, research data, educational resources, and digitized special collections.
- ResearchData@TAMU — A catalog that aggregates and indexes research data created by Texas A&M researchers and stored in repositories around the world, increasing its discoverability for reuse, experimental reproducibility, and broader social impact.
- Scholars@TAMU — A researcher information management system that showcases faculty expertise, strengthens scholarly identity, and supports the discovery of potential collaborators across the University.
- Texas Data Repository — An institutional platform that offers researchers, labs, and groups a flexible platform to publish, share, and preserve datasets while meeting funder and publisher requirements.
Analyze Trends and Opportunities
We gather and assess data to identify emerging needs, challenges, and opportunities related to scholarly communication and open access. These insights guide our services and help shape the future of research support at Texas A&M.
