Located on the 6th floor of Evans Library Annex, the Historic Press Room at Texas A&M University is open for students, faculty, staff, and members of the public to learn about historic book-making processes. Visitors can learn to set wood and metal type by hand, make and decorate paper, illustrate books, cast type, and print on a wide range of printing presses.
The Press Room supports hands-on scholarship in all areas of book history as well as creative projects. We host classes, workshops, and tours throughout the year and welcome consultations on projects. Check out our upcoming events below or contact us to get started!

This five-day workshop, limited to 20 students, provides an intensive, hands-on introduction to the history of books and printing. The workshop is intended for librarians, archivists, students, teachers, collectors, and private individuals who have an interest in the first three and a half centuries of the printed book.
