Assistive Technology Room

The Assistive Technology Room (Evans 108F) is set up to help meet the needs of our students, faculty, staff, and community users with disabilities. The room is available on a first-come-fist-served basis and provides access to specialized equipment and software, including:

  • 3 Open Access Lab workstations with OAL-ADA
  • Large format (high contrast) keyboards at each OAL workstation
  • TOPAZ OCR: Video magnifier, with text-to-speech
  • FUJITSU Document Scanner
  • Assistive Software:
    • JAWS text-to-speech
    • Read & Write Gold 
    • ZoomText
    • Fusion

If you need help with any of the equipment, a student assistant will be available to help in the room. You can also get assistance from the AskUs desk.

Assistive Equipment for Checkout

There is equipment that can be checked out from the AskUs desk at the Evans library, including:

ADA Computer Workstations in the Libraries

Computer workstations, accessible by wheelchairs, are available in each library. They are also equipped with screen reader and magnification software.

Research Assistance

AskUs Services

  • Not sure where to start? AskUs Services is here to help you. Stop by the first floor service desk at any campus library to get started or call, chat, text, or email us for assistance.
  • Staff and librarians can help you search for books, electronic resources, course reserves items, and other material needed for your research and study needs.
  • Use AskUs Services to retrieve library materials from the shelves for you.
  • You can also designate an individual to serve as your proxy to locate and check out items on your behalf.

Texas A&M University  Disability Resources

Disability Resources offers accommodations coordination, evaluation referral, disability-related information, assistive technology services, sign language interpreting and transcription services for academically related purposes.

Disability Resources is located in Suite 122 of the Student Services Building (SSB) which is located between Rudder Plaza and the Coke Building, next to Simpson Drill Field.
