The TAMU-Kingsville campus was designated by the Texas legislature as the primary home of the School of Pharmacy to serve the South Texas community and address the predicted national-wide pharmacist shortfall as well as the Texas-Mexico border regional high population-to-pharmacist ratio–32 percent above the state-wide ratio.
The first class of 70 students began in August 2006 and had access to library space, a pharmacy collection, and resources making this the first regional Medical Sciences Library.
The Library is located on the second floor of the Irma Lerma Rangel School of Pharmacy building and houses the pharmacy print collection, is staffed Monday through Friday, and has access to all library services. The spaces have been recently renovated to include collaborative work areas, glass whiteboards and online meeting space.
