About the Texas A&M University Libraries

Texas A&M University Libraries serves both the research and study needs of students and faculty across campus.  Online research collections and services include Get it! deliverEdocs and Chat with Us, thousands of books and journals, subject guides and more. Study space and additional research help can be found in any of the libraries located across campus. The University Libraries encompasses five facilities plus the online library described below:

Sterling C. Evans Library and Annex, the Central and largest library on Texas A&M's main campus, offers the following features:

• Quiet and group study spaces
• Course reserves and textbooks
• General assistance and special expertise in basic sciences, engineering, humanities, and social sciences
• General collections and federal depository for government documents
• Map Room with maps for check out, travel books and GIS services

 
The Annex is open 24/5 with extensive spaces for general and group study throughout the building. It also houses Educational Media Services with access to movies, CDs, multimedia equipment, and a presentation practice room.

Additional features of Evans/Annex Library include:

• Wireless environment for laptop users and laptop checkout (for in library use) at circulation desk

• Convenient group study reservations with on call pagers at circulation desk

• Poor Yorick's Coffee House on library concourse for quick meals and snacks

• University Writing Center for student writing assistance on Evans Library's 2nd floor

 
Cushing Memorial Library and Archives is the rare books, special collections, manuscripts, and archival repository for Texas A&M. It also attracts visitors and scholars beyond the campus. Collections span history from Sumerian clay tablets to science fiction paperbacks, photographs, original works, and may artifacts. Notable collections cover Texas A&M history (including historical digital images online), military history, western Americana, Texana, 18th century French history, Mexican colonial history, history of books and printing, and more.

West Campus Library (WCL) is open 24/5. It houses an Open Access Computer Lab with 250 computers, includes 15 group study rooms, and separate quiet study areas. It offers wireless access throughout and check-out laptops for in library use. It serves the Mays Business School and houses the R.C. Barclay Reference and Retailing Resources Center. The Center contains online business research tools and research help on various business related topics. The library is also home to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Depository.

Medical Sciences Library (MSL) offers resources and services to support the teaching, research, and clinical programs of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, the Texas A&M Health Science Center, and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. It also serves related areas of the University and health professionals in the community and the 22 counties in the East and Central Texas region. All university students, faculty, and staff can borrow materials. Users may search MSL's holdings through its catalog at http:Chiron.tamu.edu. Users can also check out laptops for use outside the library. Life Savor Coffee Bar is located next door.

Policy Science and Economics Library (PSEL) in the Annenberg Presidential Conference  Center primarily provides support to the students and faculty of the George Bush School of Government and Public Service, as well as the department of political science and economics. Librarians and staff teach students how to access online tools and develop search strategies. PSEL is a wireless environment with a small collection of laptops available for checkout. It houses an Open Access Computer lab with 18 computers.

Digital Library provides services that support the scholarly activities of faculty and students. It serves as a repository for research including undergraduate theses, graduate theses and dissertations, faculty publications and datasets, digital archives, course management and learning materials, digital media, and special collections.
