Cushing Memorial Library and Archives invites the campus and extended community to plan now to attend a George R. R. Martin exhibit, lecture and related events March 21-22, 2013. The exhibit, “Deeper Than Swords,” will showcase objects, editions, and manuscripts from the full scope of Martin’s prolific writing career, from early letters and stories to his most recent writings. Much of the exhibit will feature the writing and reception of “A Song of Ice and Fire,” as well as his other novels, collaborations and the international impact of his work.
Martin will attend the exhibit opening and book signing at 4 p.m., March 22, in Cushing Library. He will share his personal insights and experiences in a free lecture at 6:30 p.m. in Rudder Auditorium. Tickets are required for all events including the free lecture and can be purchased or reserved through the MSC Box Office by calling 979-845-1234.
Guests can also join the author to preview the exhibit and dine on dishes from Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series at a fundraising dinner for Cushing Memorial Library at 6 p.m., March 21. Limited tickets are available for the preview events. Those purchasing preview ticket packages before Jan. 2, 2013 can get an early bird rate.
