General Description:

The System Libraries Resource Development Director will provide innovative leadership for system-wide shared initiatives, such as shared resources and professional development opportunities for the Texas A&M University System Library Consortium (TAMU System Library Consortium).  In consultation with TAMU System Libraries, Contracts Administration, and the Office of General Counsel, the System Libraries Resource Development Director reviews and negotiates digital resources licenses to ensure compliance with established federal and state guidelines, including copyright and accessibility guidelines. Responsibilities include negotiating with vendors, establishing and maintaining effective vendor relations, and maintaining an Electronic Resource Management System for cooperative agreements. This position also manages the setup and maintenance of access records for existing and new cooperative agreements in the ERM.  The person in this position is a member of the TAMU Libraries' Electronic Resources Licensing Team.  This person also recommends and organizes annual professional development training for the librarians and staff of member libraries.  This person also prepares official reports for the TAMU System Library Consortium.

General Duties:

  • Works creatively and collaboratively with Texas A&M University System Council on Libraries (TAMU System Council on Libraries) to develop and disseminate policies, guidelines and procedures
  • Attends local, state, and national conferences to stay current with issues and trends related to the management of electronic resources and consortia; communicates with staff in member libraries regarding trends and issues
  • Attends meetings of the TAMU System Council on Libraries and reports on strategic direction, policies, and procedures that affect the collaborative projects and agreements
  • Reviews and negotiates licenses to meet TAMU System Library Consortium and State of Texas licensing requirements
  • Completes licenses by following established guidelines developed in collaboration with TAMU Libraries, Contracts Administration, and the Office of General Counsel
  • Operates in a team-based environment and has responsibility for facilitating all aspects of the TAMUS electronic resource acquisition process
  • Maintains open lines of communication with electronic resources personnel at member libraries
  • Communicates with vendors and publishers regarding the ordering, invoicing, and licensing of electronic resources
  • Works productively with publishers and vendors to ensure best pricing for cooperative agreements
  • Has primary responsibility for the following:
    • management of an Electronic Resources Management System (sysCORAL) for cooperative agreements
    • System listserv and other communication tools to ensure timely communication of renewals and new offers
  • Is a member of TAMU Libraries’ Electronic Resources Licensing Team
  • Collaborates with TAMU Libraries’ Business Office in the coordination and receipt of intrasystem agreements from member libraries of the TAMU System Library Consortium
  • Recommends and organizes annual professional development training for the librarians and staff of member libraries
  • Prepares official reports for the TAMU System Library Consortium
  • Participates in professional service commensurate with TAMU Libraries' clinical track requirements
  • Undertakes special assignments as needed
