How it works

Any Texas A&M student, faculty, or staff member with an active NetID can check out electronics from the Tech Bar for free! Equipment reservations are available up to seven days in advance. Walkups are also welcome.

Equipment varies by library location. The Evans Annex has the widest variety of equipment with more items coming soon to the West Campus Library (WCL). Select a library location under the category to view items available at that library.

Borrowing Policies

It’s easy! Just remember the Tech Bar Rule of 7s... with one exception: calculators are available for 3-day loans.

  • You can reserve equipment up to 7 days in advance.
  • You can keep most equipment for up to 7 days.
  • There is a $7 per day, per item late fee.
  • Exception: Calculators are limited to a 3-day loan period.
  • If an item is overdue more than 14 days, you will be charged the item's full replacement cost.

Additional Policies

  •  Tech Bar items are checked out using a separate system and will not appear in MyLibrary.
  • Borrowers are responsible for knowing and complying with equipment due dates.
  • Courtesy reminder notices may be sent before an item's due date; however, delivery is not guaranteed.
  • Failure to receive a reminder notice does not waive late fees, replacement charges, or other borrowing obligations.
  • If you have lost items or fees over $75 on your library account, you will not be able to check out equipment until those fees are resolved.
  • Items can be returned at any TAMU library Tech Bar location.
  • Equipment reservations for 10 or more items must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Same-day requests may be accommodated based on equipment and staff availability.
  • Reservations are not transferable. Only the person who placed the reservation may check out the equipment.
  • Checkouts may be affected by Libraries and university closures.
