The University Libraries, as part of the Texas Library Coalition for United Action (TLCUA), has negotiated a successful contract with Elsevier, the largest publisher of scholarly content in the world. We have come to terms with Elsevier to create a sustainable model for purchasing journals in the future. As part of these contractual agreements, TLCUA will partner with Elsevier to conduct copyright workshops that will explore the effects of reverting ownership of journal articles back to the original authors after a period of time.
The sustainable pricing model for journals included some changes in journal access. Usage statistics were used to inform which journals we would continue to subscribe to. Perpetual access ensures that we will continue to have access to journals we have subscribed to in previous years.
