Pick Your Poison - Traveling Exhibit

By Marketing and Communications | 09-13-2019

The University Libraries are pleased to announce the Medical Science Library is hosting Pick Your Poison: Intoxicating Pleasures and Medical Prescriptions, a National Library of Medicine traveling exhibit.

The exhibit will be on display Sept. 9 – Oct. 19 and located on the ground floor of the Medical Sciences Library.

The traveling exhibit explores some of the processes, problems, and potentials inherent in technologies that use life. Pick Your Poison inquires about the factors that have shaped the changing definitions of some of our most potent drugs, from medical miracle to social menace. The exhibition examines the history of mind-altering drugs, such as cocaine and tobacco.

A selection of digitized, historical texts from the History of Medicine Division’s diverse collections may be found as part of the online version of the exhibition. The images provide viewers with new avenues to explore beyond the exhibition. Pick Your Poison began traveling around the U.S. in early 2015.

The exhibit is open to the public and we hope you find time to visit!
