Requesting a DOI

The Texas A&M University Libraries maintains an active membership with Crossref, one of the leading DOI registration agencies used by scholarly publishers worldwide. Through this membership, the Libraries assign DOIs exclusively via Crossref for eligible institutional and scholarly materials. Crossref’s metadata standards and services align well with the types of content we support and offer strong interoperability with scholarly indexes, citation networks, and publishing platforms. For open-access journals, Crossref DOIs are often essential for inclusion in major indexing and discovery services.

What Types of Content Are Eligible?

The Digital Collections unit can mint DOIs for the following types of institutional and scholarly materials:

  • Research articles and reports
  • Datasets
  • Technical reports and white papers
  • Conference papers or proceedings
  • Digital media objects
  • Other scholarly or institutional outputs (subject to review)

If you’re unsure whether your item qualifies, feel free to contact us via our request form.
