Library Rev Renewed by Spa Retreat at Preservation Department
By Marketing and Communications | 09-18-2025
After many years of posing with students in selfies and standing guard over study sessions, Library Rev received a well-earned “spa retreat” at the University Libraries’ Preservation Department.
Named after Reveille, the First Lady of Aggieland and Texas A&M University’s mascot, Library Rev is a large plush rough collie that greets visitors at the entrance of Evans Library.
“It all started because as a giant plush animal she has a tendency to relax and get slouchy looking,” said Traci Lynn Andrews, preservation laboratory manager.
That’s when the Preservation Department stepped in for Library Rev’s spa visit, including:
- A new PVC skeleton,
- Zippers for easier upkeep,
- Wires to hold her ears up (re-found amidst the fluff).
The recent upgrades will keep Library Rev sturdy as she stands sentinel so that more generations of Aggies can continue to enjoy her warm welcome.
“Preservation maintains the collections of the Libraries while also ensuring that those collections are here for decades to come,” Andrews said. “A huge point of our work is just making sure that everything that you see around you is here for the next set of students.”
