OpenEd at Texas A&M

Open Education efforts at Texas A&M University (TAMU) have been gaining momentum since 2018, culminating in the creation of the University Libraries OpenEd Department in 2023. The OpenEd Data Dashboard highlights the impact of these efforts, showcasing how initiatives such as Provost grants, library purchasing, open digital publishing, and library reserves work together to expand access to affordable course materials and support teaching and learning across the university. On page 2 of the dashboard we have used Registrar data to illustrate the continuous growth in courses marked OER and the total student enrollments in those OER courses.

Open Education and Course Affordability efforts are generously funded thanks to the contributions from University Libraries, Office of the Provost, Crawley Family Foundation, Federation of Texas A&M University Mothers’ Club’s Library Endowment, and Jan E. Fambro '75.

Explore the dashboard below to see the full scope of OpenEd’s impact. Use the filters on the right (Fiscal Year, University, TAMU Campus, Semester, Academic Year) to explore data by context. “Return on Investment” reflects student savings per $1 invested. Numbers update dynamically as you adjust filters.

Note: The dashboard may take a few moments to load - thank you for your patience while the data comes to life!
