  • Ask for help when uncertain of what to do or how to operate equipment.
  • Uphold the Aggie Core Values by respecting the unique creativeness of everyone in the Maker Zone.
Safety

Protect Safety

  • Follow guidelines on the operation of all equipment, practice safe behavior, and wear appropriate safety gear.
  • Respect and follow the directions from Maker Zone staff.  
  • Report issues such as accidents, malfunctioning equipment, or injuries immediately to Maker Zone Staff.

Honor the Space

  • Take responsibility for my workstation and clean up after myself.
  • Return tools and supplies to the designated areas.
  • Use the space for maker activities only.
sustainability

Practice Sustainability

  • Use only what I need so that others may also have materials.
  • Respect the limitations on consumables supplied by the Maker Zone.
  • Reuse and donate. Consider giving scraps from your project to the Maker Zone for another user.

Rules

The Maker Zone staff reserves the right to refuse any creation requests deemed inconsistent with the following guidelines. To ensure that the Maker Zone is an ethical learning environment, the creation of the following objects is prohibited at the discretion of the University Libraries staff: 

  • Items manufactured for mass production, resale, or commercial enterprises
  • Projects prohibited by local, state, or federal law
  • Projects that violate the Aggie Honor Code and Core Values
  • Any project or work that is unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses a threat to the well-being of others
  • Projects that violate another’s intellectual property rights. For example, you cannot reproduce material subject to copyright, patent, or trademark protection

A Learner’s failure to operate the equipment properly and safely or follow all instructions by Maker Zone staff may result in the Learner’s loss of access to the equipment, future use of the space, and/or monetary damages being charged to the Learner to replace or repair the equipment.

Use Agreement

I warrant that I am authorized to use the applicable files, data, images, or any other materials (collectively “Content”) in the Maker Zone and that the use of the Content will not infringe upon any third-party’s copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret or other proprietary or intellectual property rights or violate any person’s rights of privacy or publicity. I agree to use the Maker Zone exclusively for lawful purposes that respect the policies of Texas A&M University and the TAMU Libraries as well as the safety and well-being of all students, faculty, staff, and patrons. All Maker Zone materials, services, and products are provided by Texas A&M University on an "as is" basis WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR REPRESENTATIONS OF ANY SORT, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE. I understand that there are inherent risks to me and others involved with using the Maker Zone, and I choose to voluntarily participate with full knowledge that doing so may be hazardous to me and my property, and to the person and property of others.

In consideration for being allowed by Texas A&M University to access and/or use the Maker Zone, I hereby agree to release (other than for injuries caused by intentional or grossly negligent conduct) and indemnify Texas A&M University, The Texas A&M University System, its regents, officers, agents, employees, and volunteers from any and all claims, demands, suits, actions, liabilities (including attorneys’ fees), and costs of any kind incurred as a result of a final judgment or settlement or any claim or legal proceeding arising out of or resulting from a breach or claimed breach of the foregoing representations and warranties or by reason of any accident, injury (including death), or damage to any person or property howsoever caused, arising from or connected with use of the Maker Zone, including injuries resulting from the sole, joint, or concurrent negligence, negligence per se, statutory fault, or strict liability of the indemnified parties.
