Our beloved university has a rich history, but many chapters are missing from Texas A&M’s story. That’s about to change thanks to the generosity of Vicki Brown-Sobecki and Dan Sobecki. The couple recently established the Victoria A. Brown-Sobecki ’78 History of Women at Texas A&M Endowment. It is the first gift to the Texas A&M University Libraries that specifically commemorates women who have impacted Texas A&M. The endowment will fund purchases and activities that showcase the accomplishments and contributions of women at Texas A&M.

The Texas A&M University Libraries, as part of the Texas Library Coalition for United Action (TLCUA), is pleased to announce that they have concluded negotiations with the world’s largest scholarly publisher, Elsevier, and have a new contract that will save Texas A&M University and the State of Texas $700,000 annually.

In late 2021, Robert Brittingham passed away and willed a gift of 26,700 print items to the University Libraries’ Science Fiction and Fantasy Research Collection, housed in Cushing Memorial Library & Archives.

Texas A&M University Libraries is pleased to announce an in-house exhibition: Charting Texas. The exhibition will be on display at Cushing Memorial Library & Archives and runs from August 25, 2022 through December 9, 2022.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Julie Mosbo Ballestro as University Librarian and Assistant Provost of University Libraries at Texas A&M University, beginning July 1, 2022.

Included in the exhibit are works by two Texas-based artists ­­– The Unknown Vegetable by Patrice Miller and Dandelion by Elizabeth Mellott. Both bookbinders attended the exhibit opening and shared their insights on the exhibition’s theme: Wild/LIFE.

TAMU Libraries is hosting the traveling exhibition Wild/LIFE: Guild of Book Workers Triannual Exhibition at Cushing Memorial Library and Archives, from May 2 through June 24, 2022.

The Cushing Memorial Library and Archives is pleased to announce their new exhibition: “Unexpected Treasures on the Texas A&M Campus: Selections from the Cushing Memorial Library & Archives Collections”. The exhibit will run from January 18 – April 22, 2022.

The University Libraries’ Annual Food for Fines program accepts non-perishable food items as payment for outstanding library fines with all food going to the 12th Can Food Pantry on campus. The Food for Fines program runs from February 1-28.
