Prayer & Meditation Rooms

The University Libraries have two Prayer & Meditation Rooms available for use by students, faculty, and staff. The rooms are for personal contemplation, meditation, reflection and prayer. They are available to persons of all faiths and those of non-religious beliefs.

Room Usage Guidelines

  • The rooms are for quiet prayer and reflection. Please be respectful of others. Electronic devices should be silenced or used with headphones.
  • The room should not be used for organized services or scheduled, reoccurring group events.
  • You are free to use the items placed in the room by the Libraries; when finished, please return the items to their place. 
  • Please do not post or leave additional materials or texts. 
  • Use the room as intended and leave when done; do not lock nor use the room for studying or sleeping. 
  • If you have any questions or concerns about the use of this room please contact the Libraries’ AskUs desk: Evans Library (979-845-3731), West Campus Library (979-845-2111).
  • The room is governed by standard university guidelines and policies on use of educational buildings and facilities on campus. 
  • If there are items the Libraries should add to the room, please make these suggestions by email to Marisol Moreno, marisol.moreno@library.tamu.edu. Please describe the importance, background, and use of the item as well as any special considerations. 

Note that all items in the room are available to all users and cannot be restricted in access. Please also note that flammable items (candles, incense, etc.) are prohibited in Evans Library due to fire/safety regulations.
